Mr. Schoenfelt’s served as Executive Secretary to the Northwest Indiana Superintendent’s Study Council. His responsibilities included assistance in planning and carrying out monthly discussion meetings with area Superintendents. Annual retreat topics and speakers were arranged and provided. In addition, he coordinated communication and updates related to monitoring and lobbying for or against State education bills that were proposed and heard during the State Legislative Session.

As the recently retired Superintendent of the Merrillville School Corporation (K-12 enrollment of 7,000 students) where I served as Superintendent for 20 years, I have worked closely and professionally with Mr. Schoenfelt. He has a complete understanding of the needs of K-12 education over the entire array of needs from financing, purchasing, professional development and policy making and implementation.

Through the years, I have watched Ed take on many challenges outside of his particular job at the time.  Whether at church in an advisory role or on the local elementary PTA board in a leadership role, Ed always has a knack of getting things done quickly and thoroughly.
